PMDC Fixes Tuition Fees for Private Medical Colleges. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has fixed tuition fees for private medical and dental colleges across the country. The decision aims to control rising education costs and provide financial relief to students and parents.

Government Sets Maximum Annual Fee Limit

The fee cap was announced following recommendations by a committee formed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The move applies to MBBS and BDS programs offered by private institutions nationwide.

Tuition Fee Structure for 2026–27 Session

According to the official notification, the tuition fee for the 2024–25 academic session has been fixed at PKR 1.8 million per year. This amount includes all ancillary and related charges and will apply to students from first year to final year.

Revised Fee Cap for 2026 Session

For the 2025–26 session, the tuition fee has been capped at PKR 1.89 million per year. This reflects a 5 percent increase and will apply to all students across all academic years in private medical and dental colleges.

Future Fee Increase Linked to CPI

From 2026 onwards, any further increase in tuition fees will be strictly linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). An official notification will be issued to define the mechanism for future adjustments.

PMDC Directs Colleges to Ensure Compliance

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has directed all private medical and dental colleges to comply fully with the revised fee structure. Institutions failing to follow the rules may face penal action.

Penalties Under PM&DC Act 2022

PMDC warned that any violation of the fee cap may result in strict action under the PM&DC Act, 2022. This includes penalties against institutions that charge fees beyond the approved limits.

Conclusion

PMDC’s decision to fix tuition fees for private medical colleges brings much-needed relief to students and parents. It helps control rising education costs and ensures fairness in admissions. This step can improve transparency and protect students from unreasonable fee increases in medical education.
